On May 7, 2025, I had the incredible honor of photographing the grand opening of the brand-new Ronald McDonald House inside St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital—a milestone event that brought together community leaders, donors, hospital staff, and families in celebration of compassion, hope, and healing.
As a Tampa event photographer specializing in nonprofit and healthcare events, documenting this ribbon cutting ceremony was both inspiring and humbling. This 10,100-square-foot space is more than just a building—it’s a home away from home for families with children receiving care just steps away in the NICU and pediatric units.

Event Photography Highlight: Ribbon Cutting Moments
The ribbon cutting ceremony marked the official debut of 11 beautifully designed family rooms, each sponsored by generous donors whose names now grace the entryways. From wide-angle shots of the newly unveiled kitchen and dining space to candid moments of gratitude between families and staff, every image aimed to tell the story of community impact.
I focused on capturing:
• Candid moments of connection between families, staff, and volunteers
• Detailed shots of room dedications, including sponsor plaques and room décor
• Wide shots of the parent lounge, playroom, and wellness center
• Formal portraits during speeches and donor recognitions
• The emotional energy of parents seeing the space for the first time

Why Event Photography Matters for Nonprofit Milestones
Events like these deserve more than quick snapshots—they deserve storytelling. My goal as an event photographer in Tampa Bay is to create visual content that nonprofit organizations can use in:
• Annual reports
• Fundraising campaigns
• Press releases and newsletters
• Social media and donor outreach
Strong, storytelling photography helps nonprofits like Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tampa Bay continue their mission by connecting the community to the people they serve.
